Set 1 - Half-Step, with its beautiful extended coda, comes off best. Overall it's a decently played first set; I was never one of the (un-)faithful who howl at the moon over Bruce's accordian; I actually like the sound. But in this case, really, it's pretty overbearing in the mix during FOTD.
Set 2 - *NOW* we get the goods - this is a positive lightning-bolt-through-the-skull set, pre-drums what Deadhead dreams are made of...won't even say anything, except just *put it on*....D>S carries with it epic-caliber weight, the kind that make it absolutely essential listening (then again, i could never relate to 'heads that use this sequence as a piss break....)
A&A is a real surprise - they take it an extra four-five minutes out there to allow Bruce some jazzy jamming and toying around - it's too bad they didn't keep double-timing the back end of this tune as in '77-'78, but this is stone-cold awesome!
A great show overall. The Greensboro '91 run may be the first BIG success of that year.

Wake up to find out
I attended both of these Greensboro shows..had a blast!! This night was for sure the better of the two..When everything merged just so and something beautiful and powerful comes out of it..As my memory holds..there was a power outage at the beginning of the 2nd set???? but don't hold me to it..I enjoyed the 1st set and it started out well with a nice 1/2 Step..nothing crazy, just well played And YES Bruce was a key factor..Jerry was diggin' him for sure, but I wasn't prepared for what was unleashed in the 2nd set I hold it up there in some of my best post Brent era shows..so please GIVE IT A WHIRL!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a balanced sounding Vince/Bruce era show with high energy performing from all the boys.
The "Samson" and "Eyes" that made it as filler onto Dick's Picks Volume 17 are the highlights of the show.
This is Bruce Hornsby's first show with the band that year, taking a break for the (IMHO) weaker February and March shows. Bruce's presence brings back focus and makes this Greensboro show, and the following night's performance standout.
